Junior Cricket Bat Sizes

Choosing the correct bat for each player is incredibly important, to ensure the young player reaches his/her full potential. Junior bats come in many sizes to accommodate a player’s height and strength. The weight of the bat is very important as a too heavy a bat could hinder development and technique.

The table above illustrates the approximate weights of junior bats for each size in Lbs & OZ. The weigh of a bat will depend on the willow it is crafted from and the origin of the wood – English or Kashmir Willow. English Willow is slightly lighter and will be on the lighter side of the scale.

 

Helmets

A good fitting helmet should be comfortable to wear with very little movement, the peak should be inline with the eyebrows, and the grill is to be fitted as per manufacturer’s instructions. For continued safety periodically check the grill screws are tight.

To measure the head take a tape around the head, just above the eyebrows and ears.

Gloves

Both Batting and Keeping gloves should be a good comfortable fit. Use the chart below as a guide to the size required. Measure the hand from the tip of the longest finger to the wrist. Pads

Batting and keeping pads. The size of pads can vary slightly from brand to brand, but the following will give you an indication of the size you require. Measure the length between the top of your instep and the middle of your knee cap.

Footwear

All shoes are quoted in standard UK sizes, which are in line with everyday footwear. When choosing cricket shoes, use your normal shoe size, but do not forget to allow for your cricket sock.
